Boots boots glorious boots! Why one pair is just not enough.

It took me 40 years to get a pair of boots. Not the snowy or rainy weather kind. God I had those since I could walk, especially growing up in Minnesota. I actually had silver moonboots once. Those were cool. They were in fact the coolest boots I ever owned prior to last March. But that’s not really what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the chic, cool kind— the kind that have been in style for like a decade. And still it took me 40 years to get my own. This year for my fortieth birthday I bought myself a pair.

They are the best. They’re slate grey, the perfect color for me since I rarely wear black, but not everything goes with brown either. And best of all since I live in the Northwest, they are waterproof, and the insides are lambs wool, so they are actually warm too. I love them. Totally love them. But I’ve also noticed they do have they have their limits. Truly they are winter boots. So you can’t really wear them in the summer, and even in the fall they are sometimes too warm.

The other night I was looking at my computer as I clicked on a cute pair of boots I said out loud, “It took me 40 years to get my first pair of boots, and now that I have them I know I need more.”

“What?” my husband piped up from across the room. “I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that.”

“Yes, do,” I said. “I wasn’t talking to you anyway,” I said smiling at my online boots with whom I was truly conversing.
