Preventative Medicine for the Holiday Rush- Do It Right Now It Only Takes a Minute.

We’re heading into that time of year where no matter what it seems to always feel like you have more things to do than time to do it.

We’re not there yet.  It’s still the first week of December.  But in my experience things are about to speed up really quickly.

Before that happens let’s take a deep breath together.

Ahhh… I freaking love deep breaths!

It’s still spacious and lovely– the promise of holiday magic is in the air but the overwhelm of too much to do hasn’t hit yet.

Yes! The beginning of December.

It’s time for some preventative medicine.  It will only take a minute.  Right now, while you are still sane 😉 take a moment to jot down a few things that always make you feel good when you do them.

You’re going to want to know these later this month.  And when you’re stressed it’s sooo easy to forget what you need to do to make yourself feel better.

I’m not implying that you necessarily have to get stressed this year.  Who knows, maybe this year is different!  Even so, having this list in your back pocket, or in your journal, or in stashed on a piece of paper in your purse, or a list on your phone will come in handy.

Here are the things on the top of my list right now.

  1. Going to bed early.  Laying in bed and giving myself Jin Shin Jyutsu.
  2. Baths, (always, always, always) with epsom salts and lavender essential oil.
  3. Cleaning (It’s so weird. But I discovered recently that this does make me feel better, more grounded, more like I’ve got a handle on things, or at the very least like I can think straight because the house is not covered in toy trucks and discarded kiddo leggings.)
  4. Deep breaths.  This works wonders on me at all times.  It just helps me get present, calm down, get connected to my inner self and realize that even in moments of holiday (or otherwise) overwhelm I am doing the best I can.

Okay, knowing what works for you is the first step.  The next step is to apply as needed.  You’ll know when. 😉

Love,

Aimée

P.S. I’ve got more ideas for dealing with overwhelm here and here and here!  And the mother-load of ideas here!
