When I came across this book, Your Inner GPS: Follow Your Internal Guidance to Optimal Health, Happiness, and Satisfaction, I was in love! Right away. Within the first few paragraphs I knew, “This woman GETS it! She (look at cover), Zen Cryar DeBrücke, totally gets it!” Followed closely by, “And she does such a succinct and poignant job of breaking down how to use your inner guidance system in a way that anyone can understand and use.”
So I had to talk to her. I got the scoop on how she even discovered and refined her use of her inner GPS– which I loved hearing about and I share with you toward the end of this article.
In her book Zen says, “You were born with a factory-installed guidance system. It is like the GPS in a car. This system is called your Internal Guidance System, or IGS. It’s most important [purpose] is to get you from one end of your life to the other with as much joy, ease, and fulfillment as possible.”
I was so excited about her work because you know I teach others all the time that the answers are inside of them. I usually call it inner knowing– but I help my Intuition University students to become aware of how their own innate intuitive/psychic senses are guiding them to goodness ALL THE TIME. And as any one of my students can tell you I’m always talking about paying attention to the cues and answers your own body is giving you.
That’s what Zen teaches too. In her book and programs, she teaches a very succinct method of learning how to tune into the inner guidance that you are getting from your own body.
She teaches you how to recognize the bullshit thoughts, the ones that you are having that aren’t true, be they, “Did I leave the iron on this morning?” Or “I’m not going to have enough money to pay my bills!” Large or small thoughts, she teaches that your own Inner GPS is guiding you in every moment, showing you which thoughts are not true and therefore not going to happen and also guiding you toward the optimal path for you.
Zen goes on to show you how the thoughts that are NOT true are the ones that cause stress in your body. That means every time you are experiencing stress, overwhelm, worry, anxiety, fear, etc. you are having a thought that is not true. Your Inner GPS is trying to tell you – don’t bother with that road (or line of thinking) it’s not true and it’s not going to happen.
Isn’t that amazing!?
Her book is fantastic and I highly recommend it. Knowing and understanding your own IGS is an ESSENTIAL tool in your intuitive toolbox. Her book is filled with everything you need to know about how to use your own IGS to guide your life. Such as how to access this inner fortune-teller of sorts, or as Zen refers to it, the inner “compass” that we all have. 🙂 Or how to use it to direct your life and make decisions that are in line with the very best that is possible for you. (Her free video series tells you about that too.)
Like I said, I love her book. But if you know me you know that I absolutely see the value of (and the incredible results people get from) having a real life teacher, guide, and mentor who can offer you the support you need as you go along to make these transformational changes. What I love even more is that Zen offers this in an easy and palpable way through her programs–like her Revitalize Your Life course which actually includes coaching phone calls for as long as you need them to get your IGS dialed.
So check her website out. She’s got a free video tutorial and a free video course as well just to help you ease on down the road of really learning to dial your IGS!
In the mean time here is the when and how story of Zen’s finesse of her inner GPS.
Tell me the story of how you discovered your Inner Guidance System (IGS):
“Back in 1993 I had a cassette tape on Abraham Hicks. In that program they spoke about how when you experience expansion in your body you are in alignment, and when your body is closed, your thoughts are not true.
I was so excited about this idea that I contacted the Hicks to see if they did any training on this. There wasn’t anything. So I started researching it on my own. I found many vague references to this same phenomenon in lots of different places but no “How To” instructions on how to implement, apply, and use this guidance yourself. So I started playing with it and began practicing and noticing.”
Among many other things she used it to build a multi-million dollar tech company. Then, the .Com crash came. But in contrast to what was happening around her she didn’t feel devastated by it all. That’s because she had already learned enough about her own IGS to recognize when a thought was true or not and therefore not waste time spinning out in anxiety.
Her friends and colleagues noticed! They said things like, “Tell me what pill you are taking or what you are doing to remain so calm about all of this.” Thus in her very own living room she started teaching her friends and colleagues what she knew about the IGS. Overtime, it became her mission.
Now, she not only has a best selling book she has great coaching programs where she teaches others to “take stress, worry, and anxiety out of their life forever” and it’s so true. If you long for a succinct way to understand the road ahead of you, and to decipher the stories that your mind can tell you from the reality of what exists and will exist I recommend using your Inner Guidance System.
And in Zen’s words, “It’s factory installed!” You came that way, friends. You came that way.
Zen and her work can help you.
