What is the difference between “manifesting” and the process of “Getting Answers?”

What is the difference between “manifesting” and the process you teach in your book, Getting Answers: Using Your Intuition to Discover Your Best Life?

I get that question fairly often.

Are you familiar with the process that I teach in my book Getting Answers? In it I detail a SIMPLE four-step process that anyone can use to get answers to the questions of their lives. You don’t have to be a seer, like I am, to get answers. When I wrote Getting Answers I did it because I wanted my students and clients to know how simple it really was. It’s easy. Seers have been doing this for ages—but it’s not exclusive to us, anyone can use this process. Anyone. (Here’s another article on it. And here as well.)

I’ll give you a clue about my process: It’s all about asking questions.

So here is what I see as the difference between the two, manifesting and Getting Answers.

To my mind the art of manifesting is about focusing on a desire you have and then by way of focusing bringing it to you. I may be over simplifying a bit, but you get what I mean.

What I teach is similar to that in this: I do suggest you know what you are looking for—it’s the first step to getting it. But to me the process I teach is more of a dialogue with the Universe or Spirit, then a focus and get concept.

It’s not: Want. Focus. Get.

It’s: Want. Ask. Receive or be redirected.

And that does happen from time to time– the redirection. And the reason is this: there are answers or pathways that are better for you than others.

One of my favorite stories that exemplifies this is one I share in my book. I was standing at the bank depositing money. When I went to leave the teller handed me my receipts and a one hundred-dollar bill. I handed her back the money and said, “I don’t think you meant to give me this.” She looked down at it, leaned over with a smile and whispered to me, “Between you and me I don’t think I’m in the right business.” I got it. She wasn’t meant for that type of work. She just wasn’t built for it. (And she wasn’t there long!) That would likely be my experience if I tried to be a bank teller. I’m not made for it either.

That’s just one example of what I mean when I say there are jobs, lives, paths or ways of solving challenges that are better for you than others. I could try to be an accountant, but trust me, it would not be the best way, at all. In fact, I would even go so far as to say it would be a waste of my life entirely.

I teach my students to always ask for the answers that are in line with their own Highest Good. And sometimes that means, the answer you want, or the thing that you were hoping for is NOT the result you get. That’s where to me, the process I teach (and live by) feels more like a dialogue. Because also in my process, if the answer that you are hoping for is not right the universe clearly shows you this is not the case. And generally speaking if you are on the wrong track, it shows you very clearly what one to get on, or at least what one to get off! I’ve got tons of examples of this in my book, so if you’re hankering for more, that’s where to find it.

But as long as you are doing the first step in my book, the one I call “Aligning with the Highest”, or being clear that you are only looking for the answer(s) that serve your Highest Good– the answers you receive, the direction you are guided to will absolutely be that one. It will be the response, the journey, the way that will bring you the most joy.

That is what I see as the difference between the idea of “manifesting” and the process I teach in Getting Answers. You are still bringing things to you– “manifesting” experiences that you would like to have. But you are also clear that you want only the best and Highest outcomes, and if you need to change course, get off the path, or veer right instead of left, you do so, because you know that’s where they goodness is, and the Universe has shown you that this is so.
