Your Money or Your Life… Do You Have to Choose?
|
My own worst fear was that I would need to run myself into the ground making millions. Sure, that’s fine for Donald Trump, or Bill Gates I thought, but not for me. I am not a business man. First of all, I’m a woman! But more than that, the thought of having to choose a life of making money over a life of quality has never been something I was interested in.
Once in my life, I answered an ad in the paper for a “Meat Salesman.” The ad indicated that you could make hundreds of dollars a day, selling meat. I was tired of being broke and game to try anything. Bottom line, I was all for hundreds-of-dollars-a-day— at least until I found out what I would have to do to make those bucks. Right then and there, on that first day of training, I learned I had a limit. Aimée Cartier, meat saleswoman extraordinaire, lived a very short life. If that is what making buckets of money looks like, I thought to myself, then I’ll have none of it.
That was the taste making lots of money left in my mouth. That experience coupled with books that I had read indicating that if you want to be a millionaire—you have to live, breathe, and dream money. Well, I don’t.
I live, breathe and dream friends- community- love- family- pets- creativity… not money. I like money, but it alone, does not motivate me to action.
That first experience I had trying to make hundreds of dollars a day just didn’t work for me. Do I have to do things that are absolutely unappealing to me to make money? I wondered. Do I have to forfeit a life of quality in order to make my dreams of abundance come true?
No, it turns out. The answer is a resounding no.
Neither my family, my spirit, nor my health has to pay in order for me to make millions. In fact, it can be easy.
Mark Allen was the first to put it in terms that I could understand. A multi-millionaire himself, and in an industry that is close to my own heart — publishing—I got what he was saying.
But more than that I got that while following his dream of total financial success, he did not sacrifice his family life, his personal time, nor any other interests that were important to him. He managed to make millions “in an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way, and in its own perfect time, for the highest good of all.”
Now that’s the kind of millions I’m set to make.
