Peek-a boo-spring: Hello pussy willow!
|I grew up in Minnesota. Three days after I graduated from college there I packed my bags and split. Why? Because I’ve never appreciated the MN weather. It’s true, I have journals from as early as age 9 confirming this. Even when I was just writing random words and poetry on the page of a gifted brown leather journal with a lock, I was also documenting how much I hated the MN winters. So, it was no surprise to me then, that I left as soon as I could.
For me one of the absolutely best things about living in the Pacific Northwest is the earliness that spring shows her face. She’s not in full throttle, but about the time the snow is starting to pack on and the temps are unbelievably cold in Minnesota, spring starts her peek a-boo dance here in Washington. Year after year, I don’t tire of this dance. Here is a recent sign on my fair isle.
